Eddie was first to finish, an early Knight for Rook Exchange followed by a rapid swapping of pieces led to a position where his opponent had no real way of staying in the game and had to eventually reluctantly resign. Ben finished next, he was on top for most of his game which included a controversial incident, where his opponent moved his rook first in the castling process. Colin drew his game, he was 6 pawns to Bishop down, but with both Queens still on the board and a superior time advantage, his opponent not wanting to lose on time accepted the draw. Dave Patterson, under the cosh from the opening against a very strong player, eventually threw in the towel succumbing to the thumbscrew pressure being applied.
Kevin was also pressured from the start from a king side attack, his opponent had pawns lodged on the Rook and Bishop 6th rank, but this proved to be a weakness because that left his own King very exposed. At the very end his opponent blundered his Queen which was a bit of a shock given how well he had controlled and played the game up to that point, Kevin getting in to time pressure was hoping for the draw but ended up with a surprise win.
