South Shields Chess Club is proud to take part in two competitive regional leagues. These leagues offer our players the opportunity to develop their skills, represent the club, and enjoy regular, structured competition throughout the chess season.
The Northumberland and Durham leagues each have their own history, structure, and community of clubs, giving our members a diverse and rewarding chess experience. Matches are played both home and away against a wide range of opponents, from developing juniors to seasoned county players. Whether you’re new to competitive chess or a long-time league player, taking part in these events is a great way to improve your game, meet fellow chess enthusiasts, and support the club. We currently field multiple teams across both leagues to ensure that players of all levels have a chance to participate.
