Ian Maughan went down in a hail of gunfire on the White side of a Scotch Opening while Simon McGuinness drew on the black side of a Scotch . Paul Bielby again produced the goods in a middle game where his opponents pieces were treading on each other’s toes . Joe Watson and Ken Neat turned into trench warfare in a blocked position and was drawn . On Top board the board was on fire with many pieces being en prise simultaneously . John Boyd just lost out in a wild game .
Well done to Paul and Joe against strong opposition .
